Community, Culture, and Ag Appreciation

Community and Culture

Here at Peoples Bank, we're proud to be a community bank that works to support our fellow West Texans and invest in the people that you know. Considering that agriculture is one of the strongest pillars of the communities we serve, it's only natural that we take time to support and acknowledge the many agriculturalists that work hard to provide for their families, their communities, and the world.

To be a part of a community that is built on the backs of hardworking farmers is to also understand that farming is more than just a job; it's a way of life and a passion that's as deep-seeded as the history surrounding the industry.

Industry Innovators

Despite the fact that we live in a part of the country that was once considered not fit for agricultural activity, West Texas is home to a number of thriving agricultural industries including sorghum, corn, poultry production, cattle ranching, and, of course, “king” cotton.

Grit, hard work, and intuition over the years have all led to Texas being one of the largest contributors to the agricultural activity in the United States, especially as it pertains to cotton.  Of the $120 billion that cotton adds to the US economy each year, an estimated $24 billion comes from Texas. Scientific research and development, combined with new and innovative cropping systems, have placed our region at the forefront of the cotton industry. These have also led to new discoveries regarding how cotton can benefit both the environment and other factions of the agriculture industry.

Texas Tough

As great as they may be, no accomplishment comes without its fair share of roadblocks, and from droughts to dust bowls, West Texas farmers have seen roadblocks of all shapes and sizes. No matter the obstacle, a farmer's ability to adapt to the elements and continue to foster agricultural success through the toughest of times is what sets them apart from the rest. Their resilience, hard work, and determination embody what it truly means to be a West Texan and to be a part of such a wonderful community.

At Peoples Bank, we have great respect for what our local farmers do for us each and every day and we are honored to serve those who serve not only us, but the people we know too. Our team of agriculture lending professionals has years of experience working with farm, ranch, and livestock. Contact us today to learn how we can assist you and your ag operation.
